Extract a palette from image references
Queue a deterministic histogram palette for one uploaded image or combine the colors from a selected set of uploaded images.
Follow the steps
Upload an image into Library and wait for its image processing to complete.
Choose the palette action on one image to queue its extracted palette.
To combine references, select image cards and choose Extract combined palette. The current API accepts one through 50 image IDs for this operation.
Use the displayed swatches, copy a color value, or download the completed combined palette as CSS when that result is available.
What to know
- Palette extraction is deterministic histogram processing of uploaded image content; it is not a generated color recommendation.
- A palette can be placed on a canvas through the library picker or by adding the asset with its palette data.
- The single-image palette endpoint requires an uploaded image with a stored file. An external image URL alone is not enough for this action.
Troubleshooting
- If the palette control rejects an item, confirm that the asset type is image and that an uploaded original exists.
- If a combined palette does not queue, select only image assets and keep the selection between one and 50 items.
- If swatches are absent, check the job status and retry the failed palette job after reading its error.
