Work on a canvas

Add mixed cards, arrange them spatially, connect related ideas, and save a board with revision protection.

Follow the steps

Open a canvas and use the toolbar to add a Note, Checklist, Link, item from Library, or Draw a sketch. More cards opens Quote, Article and Color formats.
Drag cards across the dotted stage. Select two or more cards and choose Group to place them in a frame, or connect two cards when a relationship is useful.
Select a card to open Card details. Edit its title, notes, source URL where relevant, checklist items, or card color.
Choose Save canvas after changes. The header shows whether the board is saved, has an unsaved local draft, or is showing a saved version number.

Canvas cards support notes, images, links, checklists, palettes, files, frames, drawings, quotes, saved reading and individual colors. Spatial placement and connectors belong to the board.
The canvas supports panning and user-controlled zoom. The controls include zoom in, zoom out, and fit all ideas.
Undo and redo are local editor actions. A saved board uses an expected revision so a competing save cannot silently replace your work.

Choose More cards → Quote. Enter the exact excerpt, source title and URL, then add an author or page/location if useful. Copy with source includes that context.
Choose More cards → Article. Paste plain text you want to keep, with its source URL and optional author. Read saved text opens a focused reading dialog; Reading status and Mark as read track your progress. Reading time is estimated from word count. Rail Cove does not fetch or archive the remote article automatically.
Choose More cards → Color. Enter a #RGB or #RRGGBB value. Rail Cove normalizes it, checks the value, renders the swatch and lets you Copy HEX. An invalid value needs correction before saving.
Save canvas to persist your changes. These core formats are available with Cove; extracting a multi-color histogram palette remains a separate Studio feature.

If Save is disabled, there is no unsaved editor change to send yet. Continue editing or recover a local draft first.
A revision conflict means another save arrived first. Download your draft, then load the latest version and reapply the work you want to keep.
If a card is hard to find, switch to List view or use the library/search surfaces rather than zooming the board until text is too small.
