Create your first Rail Cove canvas
Choose a purpose, start from a real starter or a blank canvas, add an optional first note, and set the appearance you want to use.
Follow the steps
Open /onboarding while signed in. If you are signed out, choose Sign in and return to onboarding.
Choose A moodboard, Research and notes, or A personal collection. You can change the resulting canvas later.
Choose the starter material, give the canvas a title, and add an optional first note. The three real starters are Quiet spaces, Coastal field notes, and Kyoto notebook; Blank canvas is also available.
Choose Light, Dark, or Match device, decide whether Cora should appear, and choose Create my canvas. Rail Cove opens the created canvas after saving your choices.

Start in the Inbox when an idea arrives before you know where it belongs.
Choose Capture an idea, save a note, link, image, or document, and give it a title you will recognize later.
Open Canvases, choose New canvas, name the space, and create it.
Use Library to bring in the saved note. Place it where it makes sense, then choose Save canvas to create a durable version.
What to know
- The selected purpose maps to a starter, but the starter choice can be changed to blank before creation.
- The first note is written into the created board when it contains text. The board can be edited immediately after onboarding.
- Cora is a visual mascot. The appearance choice controls her visibility; it does not give her access to or control over your content.
Troubleshooting
- If the title is empty, continue and create are disabled until you provide one.
- If account lookup fails, use Try again. If canvas creation fails after a board was created, the error state links to that canvas when its ID is available.
- Email verification can be completed from the verification link or Settings. Verified email is required for some shared membership operations.
