Read a canvas as a list
Switch from spatial layout to an ordered view when you need to scan card text, links, checklists, drawings, or palettes.
Follow the steps
Open a canvas and choose List view in the canvas header.
Scan the non-frame cards in their ordered content representation. Image and file/link cards keep an image or Open source action when their URL is available.
Use Edit on a card to select it and return to its card details when the canvas is editable.
Choose Canvas view to return to spatial arrangement.
What to know
- List view is a reading path over the same board content. It does not reproduce the board's spatial positions or connector geometry.
- Frame nodes are structural groups and are omitted from the list entries; their cards remain in Canvas view.
- Checklist items can be checked from the list when the current role can edit the board.
- Quote attribution, reading status and HEX values remain available in List view. Copy actions work in read-only views; editing and reading-status changes require edit access.
Troubleshooting
- If a card is missing, check whether it is a frame or whether the board loaded an older saved revision.
- If edit controls are unavailable, the board may be read-only through a public link or your shared role may be viewer.
- If an external source does not open, the card may not contain a safe URL. Return to Card details and inspect the source field.
